"New Poll: Voters Say No to Marijuana Rescheduling If It Boosts Ads to Kids and Gives Tax Breaks to Foreign Cartels"
According to SAM (Smart Approaches To Marijuana). This poll is misleading, adding hypotheticals that can easily be avoided through regulation and common sense laws.
The claim: It may boost ads to kids.
This seems to be true in the hemp space, sheesh, gotta call it like I see it. Some (NOT ALL), in fact probably a very small percentage have very enticing packages that literally resemble candies like Sour Patch Kids. I think it was Senator Rand Paul (R-KY), that brought up it's so close there could be a legitimate case for court on copyright infringement. These are the bad actors that need regulated out of the industry (advertising intoxicating substances to a child would be what I consider a good faith violation). At the end of the day, the products being sold are cannabis products, (hemp or not) they don't need flashy packaging to sell. Do away with colorful packaging and require a list of products within the package, warning labels and age requirements, with company name titles, logos and call it a day. Problem solved.
The claim: Gives a tax break to foreign cartels.
I don't even see how this could be a thing if we regulate cannabis the right way. As little taxes as possible to still fund the regulation requirements and enforcement requirements for the time being as the industry gets a true foothold with real access to capital from banks with loans, banking services and other things. They've had very high costs of business due to outdated laws for quite some time now. If we stop the supply to the cartels by bringing the supply to a legitimate market, these cartels can be priced out of the market, given the chance the industry can thrive and succeed. I don't see black market alcohol.
