Cannabis Induced Psychosis

Cannabis induced psychosis has been a heated debate since the beginning of time, beginning with the Reefer Madness propoganda of days past.  The point of this article, is to educate on why from my personal experience, and knowledge of mental health issues I think this is disingenuous at best.

I do believe there is a chance for cannabis to potentially cause issues healthwise. The thing however, is that we can't tell if the person who consumed wouldn't have had the same reaction if they had not consumed at all. I think it's possible that it just exacerbates and expedites the outcome of psychosis, not causes it. There are also medications to treat this. There aren't medications to treat death like with alcohol, which cannabis does NOT cause directly. There is a potential it could cause death indirectly (drugged driving as an example).

This just proves the fact that we need to invest in R&D for a legitimate way to test current intoxication levels like we have for alcohol. Even if it's illegal, people will still smoke weed. It's a massive part of our culture, even when it was heavily illegal and the social stigma regarding it was 1000% worse than it is now. So, even if it remains illegal for the rest of eternity, we still need a way to test current intoxication levels.

This is getting off topic, let's get back on topic.

I do believe that some people could be predisposed to having issues with cannabis, and in that case, I would say stay away from it and get some mental health help before something serious happens.

At the end of the day, aren't we the land of the free? It doesn't seem so when it comes to this topic.
